About the President
Dr. Eba Hathout is the Founding President of The Hassan Hathout Foundation, an educational nonprofit organization whose mission is to spread the message of &#;Love in God&#; through the works and philosophy of her late father, Dr. Hassan Hathout. Eba was born in Cairo, received her schooling in Kuwait, Britain and Switzerland, and did her medical school training at the Universities of Kuwait, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Cambridge before coming to the US. Her postgraduate medical training institutions included the University of Southern California and the University of California at Irvine and at Los Angeles (UCLA). She obtained board certifications in Pediatrics and Pediatric Endocrinology and received a national research service award, and an original research grant (R01) from the National Institutes of Health. She was the principal investigator in a multitude of national and international projects and is author of many peer-reviewed manuscripts. She is an invited fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, an elected member of the Society of Pediatric Research, and a professional member of numerous medical associations.

The Hassan Hathout Legacy Foundation, a California (c)(3) nonprofit public benefit corporation, was founded after Hassan Hathout&#;s death in as the exclusive caretaker of the diverse and sizeable body of work produced by Hassan Hathout, MD, PhD, FRCOG, FRCSE, FACS in the fields of academic medicine and medical ethics, humanities, theology, the Abrahamic faiths, Islam and its ethics, interfaith dialogue, literature and poetry.
The Hassan Hathout Legacy Foundation is an independent organization, and is not affiliated with any religious or governmental entity.
The goals of the foundation include the continued expansion of the website, and the provision of resources to enable learning about Islam as believed in, and practiced by, Dr. Hassan Hathout. Initiatives, projects and programs will be developed independently as well as with universities, school systems, interfaith organizations and groups who share Hassan Hathout&#;s values. A major priority of the foundation is to establish a research library for those interested in learning more about his encyclopedic personality. Biography of Dr. Hassan Hathout
Dr. Hathout was a key founder of the Islamic Organization of Medical Sciences (IOMS), headquartered in Kuwait. Its primary goal is the dissemination of God-guided, value-based medical ethics in rapidly advancing controversial fields such as reproductive medicine, assisted reproductive technology, alternative medicine, genetic engineering, organ transplantation, and stem-cell research. He almost attended all of its annual meetings and was an active participant in formulating its recommendations and policies. He authored books2,3 under the auspices of IOMS and participated in writing some of its position papers.
He is survived by wife of more than fifty-six years, Salinas, a retired pathologist, his daughter, Eba, a Professor of Pediatrics at Loma Linda University Medical School in Southern California, grandchildren Sarrah and Hassaan Shahawy, and his brother Dr. Maher Hathout of the Islamic Center of Southern California.

Sarrah Shahawy, the granddaughter of Dr. Hassan Hathout, was Valedictorian of USC’s graduating class of , a Renaissance Scholar of Biology and French, President of the Interfaith Student Council and Founding President of the Ansar Interfaith Service Partnership. Sarrah is currently in her final year as a student at Harvard Medical School.
Eba Hathout, the daughter of Dr. Hassan Hathout, is Professor and Chief of the Division of Pediatric Diabetes and Endocrinology at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. Besides Sarrah, she is mother to Hassaan Shahawy at Harvard College. Eba is the Founding President of the Hassan Hathout Legacy Foundation.
